day #26 time to tame that mane

day #26

please excuse the smudged mascara around my eyes....remember, i have 5 month old twins

Today, I got to go to the salon. It feels so good to get a hair cut. I have insane hair. It's thick. It's wavy. It's frizzy. It's a mess most of the time. But when I go to the salon, Heather makes me pretty again! The last time I went was a couple of weeks before the twins were close to 6 months ago. GEEZ! It was well overdue!  By the way, just a shout out to my girl Heather at The  French Pharmacie. She's A-W-E-S-O-M-E. Seriously folks, go see her. I've been going to her for like, 8 years. She's the best!

day #25 i wanna hold your hand

day #25

A tender moment between sisters captured forever. Georgia loves her sisters so much and they love her in return. I hope that their love for each other continues to grow. And if it doesn't, when they fight I will make them sit and hold hands and look at this photo :)

It's Nifty To Be Thrifty

Thrifting, is it your cup of tea (cup of course found at your local Goodwill) or not so much. That's what today's ToT post is all about.

For me, I have to be in the mood to thrift store shop. Granted, it usually doesn't take much for me to get in the mood! But it is hard when you are trying to search for that perfect something and you've got one, two, three or more kids in tow. With Georgia I could always go for a little while. And then she would get bored. So, we would swing by the Goodwheel, as she says, and do a little searching. And I really need to get to the new Goodwheel that opened up fairly close to our house. If I could get a few minutes to myself, Saturday might be a great time to's the first Saturday of the month and you know what that means right? Well, for those of you that don't, it's a 50% off sale. Oh yea!

I don't do much clothes shopping at thrift stores. It's mostly for furniture and other household items. I don't really know why. And I never go to kids resale shops for clothes either. Again, I'm not sure why. I'm not apposed to buying clothing second hand. My girls totally wear hand me downs. It's always exciting for us to get a big bag of clothes from friends and go through it to see what goodies we can find in there! I suppose it's the time commitment again that holds me back. You have to search sometimes to find the really good stuff.

I do really like to find a piece of furniture and paint it up....I love to see the transformation. And I love looking for furniture at thrift stores. Again, it's the time thing. You can go in and see what they've got in just a few minutes. Then comes decision it right for your home, can you make it beautiful again, is it well made? The only second hand things that I have redone have been items given to me. My parents had a chest of drawers that got passed down to me when they got new bedroom furniture. I ended up taking it with me when I got married and moved out. I left it alone for a long time....just in case they wanted it back some day. You just never know. But two years ago I decided that I would just ask if I could paint it. And if they wanted it back one day, I could always repaint it to their desired color. They don't want that old thing back so I painted it green. It looks awesome. It's hip and modern now and looks great in my bedroom! I also did that with a nightstand they gave me. I painted it grey and it's now in the twin's room.

I really love garage sales. I love driving around and looking at other people's junk. Someone's trash may be your treasure. You just never know.

AND, sometimes, if I see something on the side of the know set out with someone's trash, and it catches my eye, I will totally stop and check it out. I get it honest, my dad does that sort of thing. I found a bedside table for Georgia's room that way. And I got some flower pots out of our neighbors trash. Just like I said, their trash, your treasure.

What are your thoughts about thrifting?

day #24 tickle time

day # 24

Poor Georgia. She got tickled. My brother used to do this to me. He's older than me...A LOT OLDER! I'm not saying he's old, but he is 11 years my senior. Anyway, he always had the advantage when it came to sibling play fights. Georgia has quite the disadvantage in our house at least for now. June and Evie, you better watch out!

day #23 Ice Ice Baby

day #23

Sunday night Georgia and I went to Disney on Ice. We had a great time hanging out together and it was really fun to watch her get so excited. We were dancing and clapping and cheering. A good time was had by all, for sure!

day #22 joy

day # 22

I got this in the mail today. I was so excited to get a photo of these little guys. Andrew and Annalise are my friend Rachel's twins. She had them back in December.

Rachel holds a special place in my heart. I'm not sure if she even realizes how much she helped me after Violet's death. She experienced the loss of her daughter just months before. She reached out to me when we barely knew each other.

On the back of this card is a quote from Psalm 30:11
You have changed my sadness into a joyful dance; you have taken away my sorrow and surrounded me with joy.

Yep. I got all weepy when I read's so true.

day #21 footprints

day #21

This morning we woke up to a light blanket of snow on the ground. We also found that we had the sign of a little visitor on our front porch. It looks like a little birdie was bouncing around out there in the snow. Too bad that we didn't actually get to see the birdie!

day #20 the good and the bad

day #20

Today was one of those days. It was kind of awful. It started off by June waking at 2:30 am to eat. She ended up sleeping with Nolan and I until I got out of bed at 7 am to help Georgia get ready for school. By 7:30 am Evie was up and ready to eat. Not long after Evie finished breakfast, June was ready to get up and start her day. And the rest of the day was spent holding one baby while the other cried. At least that is the way it seemed. I would pick up one baby and comfort her. When she was settled, I would put her down and pick up her sister. It was just back and forth like that ALL DAY.

At 2pm, I got dressed....babies crying in the back ground.
At 2:30 pm, I finally got around to making and eating some lunch. Well, I ended up scarfing down come chicken noodle soup while, you guessed it, babies were crying.
3:02 pm, I'm late to pick up Georgia. Grrrrr! Now I have to sit and wait until the 3:20 pm pick up time. At least no one is crying right now.
3:45 pm, we are back home and I'm trying to fix Georgia a snack. Georgia is trying to keep her sisters quiet. They like her a lot so it didn't take much for her to get them to settle down. They miss her during the day!
4:00 pm, I'm nursing June and Georgia is giving Evie a bottle. At least it's quiet in the house!
4:30 pm, June is happily sitting in her bouncy seat and I'm holding Evie.
5:00 pm, Nolan is home and both girls are on the floor screaming. I'm sitting on a stool in the kitchen crying because I just want a moment to myself. I ended up going into our bedroom and putting the covers over my head. Nolan closed the door to give me a few minutes to myself! He was able to take over for a little bit. I really do have the best hubby.
After that we went to my parent's house for dinner and the night has been MUCH better than the rest of the day.

BUT, a midst all of that craziness, there were parts of the day that made me so grateful that I am able to stay at home with my girls and watch them grow. And that's what today's photos are all about. I couldn't pick just one!

Hanging out together in the crib

My Favorite:Baby Toes

It's totally worth all of these crazy moments to have a few awesome ones.

day #19 sunshine and ice

day #19

Georgia and I made this. It's an ice ring. I got the idea off of Pinterest. This is the link. I did mine a little bit differently. I put water in a bundt pan and added food coloring. Then we set it outside to freeze. When it was completely frozen, I brought it in the house and set it in some warm water for just a second. Then I took it back outside and turned it over. The ice ring slid right out and I tied a string around it and hung it on the front porch. It has been interesting to watch it spin around and we are looking forward to seeing how long it will last when the temps start to warm up a bit! Maybe I'll post an update in a few days when the weather starts to warm up and you can see it shrink!

What Are You Reading?

This weeks ToT post is all about reading...what have you been reading lately that you have loved? It could be anything....books, magazines, blogs (Purple Peaches better be at the top of your list), ANYTHING.

Right now, I don't have a lot of time to do much reading. There are some blogs that I keep up with and I will sometimes read some things from Pinterest, but mostly what I have been reading have been children's books.

Georgia got several books for Christmas. Some of the best ones are the Don't Let the Pigeon books by Mo Willems. Oh that pigeon always wants to do things he's not supposed to do! They are seriously great books. If you have never read one, please, run out to your local library and find them, they are fantastic. And actually, all of Mo Willems' books are great, so go get one.

My good friend from high school, Karen, got me hooked on romance novels. They are ridiculous and I love it.

I don't read a lot of blogs, unless they are written by friends. I do look at some stuff on Pinterest, but I don't have any favorite blogs that I've found. I just don't have the time right now. I wish I did.

Hopefully my ToT friends have some great books to recommend to you all and to me too!!!

Day #17 Dada

Day # 17

This is who I spent all day hearing about. Dada Dada Dada. I kept telling Evie that he was at work and to change the topic, but he's all she had on her mind. I'm sure tomorrow will be more of the same. How about Mama?

Day #16 Backbend

Day #16

Who let's their kid fling themselves out of their seat? Well, I guess we do! I suppose she was tired of sitting there. Holding up your head is hard work, don'tcha know!

Day #15 Boo Boo

Day #15

June got her first boo boo today. The scratch near her eye is a result of Herbie getting a little too excited when Aunt Brenda got here this afternoon. The girls were having some tummy time and somehow Herbie got her with his claw. She shed some big tears for that one. It smarted for sure! Herbie was not trying to hurt her in anyway and she is's only a scratch. It was pretty close to her eye....thank goodness it's only a scratch!

Day #14 The Cat

Day #14

This is Myrtle. We found her in my parent's flower bed 7 1/2 years ago. She's feisty. She's sassy. She likes to pop out from behind the couch and scare the crap out of Herbie. I love her!

Day #13 Growing Up Too Fast

Day #13

5 months ago today these girls were born. Time is going by fast, even though, during those first few weeks I was pretty sure that we might not make it this far. Well, June is now holding her own bottle, soon they will be asking for the car keys!

Day #12-Favorite

Day #12

This was Evie's favorite pacifier. We got it at the hospital. It has a little notch cut out for her nose. The other ones we have of this brand do not have the notch cut out and therefore, her nose rubs against it and turns red. Herbie is to blame for this. Ugh, remember when I said "He's a good boy"? I suppose that he still is, even if he did ruin Evie's favorite pacifier.

ToT-Top 10 And Then Some

I hope that I get to take a vacation.
I hope that I loose some weight and get back into shape.

Day #8 A New Year

Day #8

I got a new calendar. Its one of my most favorite things about starting a new year. I don't get one until they go on sale. You know if you wait long enough, you will get one for at least 50% off. You might not get the EXACT calendar of your dreams, but really, it's a calendar.

What I love most about getting a new calendar is going back through last years calendar and seeing all the things that took place over the past year. It's time to reflect and it's time to think ahead to all the good time that are yet to be in this current year.

Day #7-Two Beating Hearts

Day #7

One year ago today, we were at the OB office nervously waiting to get an ultra sound to confirm our pregnancy. Not only did she find one beating heart, but two. What an awesome adventure!

I hope you enjoyed the recap of my year. I wish you the best in 2013.

Day #6 Missing Violet

Day #6

This is our African Violet that Nolan's mom got us after the death of our Violet. A year ago today was her due date. If she would have survived I would be busy planning a first birthday party. It's funny how a little bit of a thing can leave such a huge hole in your heart. I think about her all the time. I miss her all the time. I still can't believe that I have to live the rest of my life without her.
